I just wanted to drop a little note to remind folks that the next CodeAway.org coworking event will be
June 9th, 1-5pm. Once again it will be at a swanky private residence. As such, we’re not crazy about posting the address directly on this series of tubes we employ. However, if you’re interested in attending and would like details reply here and we will send that info right over.
CodeAway events are a great opportunity to meet some incredibly bright people, get valuable feedback, and have some fun. Again, our June event is on the 9th and I hope to see you there!

If you’re looking for another great Salt Lake area event check out the Utah Tech Spotlight tomorrow, May 18th. The spotlight company will be Control 4. Control 4 makes home automation gizmos that make turning your lights on from your driveway (or someone’s on the other side of the world) as easy as possible. For more information and to RSVP go to Utah Tech Spotlight:
Date: Friday, May 18th
Time: 3:00 - 4:00
Location: Bohemian Brewery And Grill
(94 East and 7200 South, right off of State Street, SLC)
I hope to stick around after the event and grab a bratwurst so come for the networking, stay for the Czech.

We really had a great mix of people this month!

Left to Right: Jason, Matthias, Marleigh and Clint

Left to Right: Mike, Matthias, Matt and Marleigh

Left to Right: Matthias, Marleigh and Matt

Left to Right: Marleigh, Clint, Matt and Laura
We had plenty of Engineering Green, some talk, some work (I think only Matt really got any work done) and played some Nintendo DS (MarioKart and Big Brain Academy).
The coolest part is that Matt finished the CodeAway t-shirts. You can see and order them here:
MilitantGeek - Fighting for a Geek Friendly Future - CodeAway T-Shirts
Mike and I ordered ours, so we’ll have them for the next CodeAway. We set the date:
Date and Time: Saturday, 06-09-07 1pm-5pm
Location: SupaSecret Location! Contact Laura Moncur to get the address.
Bring: Your laptop with wireless or ethernet connection (we can work with both), your Nintendo DS, treats and snacks, and other Utah Geeks.

Last mention of Seth Godin on this blog was while we were attempting to convince him to come to the Wasatch Front. Well, we did it! Seth will be speaking at the Salt Palace Thursday, May 24. The event runs from 1-4pm and should be a great time for everyone involved.
If you helped pledge a big thank you goes to you. We’ve gone from the pledging to registration phases. Registration will end Monday, May 14th. To register for the event go to

As I mentioned registration will end Monday. While there will be some at the door tickets available there is no guarantee of getting in other than registering now. So if you want to see this national bestselling author make sure to register today!

Last month’s CodeAway went so well that I am excited for this month’s. We’re having it at my house again. The problem is, I don’t want to post my address on the Internet. You can probably understand why. Here are the details for May’s CodeAway:
Date and Time: Saturday, 05-12-07 1pm-5pm
Location: SupaSecret Location! Contact Laura Moncur to get the address.
Bring: Your laptop with wireless or ethernet connection (we can work with both), treats and snacks, other Utah Geeks
I know that a lot of you have interesting projects that you have been working on, so I’m excited to hear what’s going on! Can’t wait to see you all!
