February’s Utah Geek/Blogger Dinner is this Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
We are having it at Neil’s Halibut and Broiler, which is a little more casual than we’re used to (order at the counter and bring it to the table, fill your own drinks). It is, however, excellent food, on the south side of the Salt Lake Valley, so our buddies from Provo can attend as well.
Here’s a link to a review of the restaurant:

This month’s CodeAway is this Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
Wasatch Wingz
2020 East 3300 South
Salt Lake City, Utah 84109
Description:
We have reserved the whole place to ourselves, but that doesn’t come free. There is a $15 entry fee, which includes your choice of wings and fries or Ceasar’s Salad and unlimited drinks.
Wasatch Wingz has a huge television, so we’ll be able to play Rock Band in style. They also have enough wi-fi (and wired ports) to house three times as many people who usually come to CodeAway, so they are equipped to take care of us. Additionally, if you don’t have a laptop, they have a bank of really cool gaming computers that should be serviceable. Don’t forget to bring your Nintendo DS if you prefer to play less rock-based games.

Today, Salt Lake City area geeks had the pleasure of welcoming Automatic’s Matt Mullenweg over for lunch. Matt was in town meeting with his newly famous employee, Joseph Scott, who just released
the WordPress theme, Prologue.
Turnout was around thirty individuals despite the wrong address having been advertised up until two hours before the event. And while I would have like to have Matt stand up and address the small crowd of fans/well-wishers/groupies it didn’t seem to fit his style. He spent nearly the entire time quietly in his corner engaging in conversation as it came his way. In retrospect it seems entirely appropriate; if Matt were the egomaniac or attention hog WordPress wouldn’t be the kind of company it is today.
More picture of the event are available on Flickr (images tagged with ‘mullenweg-slc-2008-02-02′).
